Welcome to Freda’s Light, where a profound family legacy fuels a bright vision of hope, dignity, and advocacy for individuals living with cerebral palsy.
Our foundation was born out of an enduring love for an extraordinary woman: Freda Veronica Riley. Born to Frank and Gladys Riley as the true middle child in a vibrant family of seven children, Freda was the gentle anchor of a large, deeply connected household.
From her earliest days, Freda possessed a rare spark that defined her entire life. No matter the day or the obstacle, she consistently met the world with a beautiful, radiant smile on her face. She had an absolute devotion to her family, and she delighted in life’s joyful, expressive details—especially the simple pleasures of having her hair beautifully styled and dressing up in her favorite clothes.
When Freda was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, the medical world offered a narrow view of what her future might hold. Yet, Freda was never defined by a diagnosis. With a fierce spirit and the unwavering backing of her family, she outlived every medical expectation placed upon her. In doing so, she fundamentally transformed and impacted her family, teaching everyone around her the true meaning of resilience, unconditional love, and joy.
Freda’s life was an everyday masterclass in overcoming. Today, Freda’s Light ensures that her radiant smile, her love for life, and her triumphant spirit continue to shine forward to illuminate the path for others.
