At The Freda Veronica Riley Cerebral Palsy Foundation, our mission is simple yet vital: to measurably improve the lives of individuals living with cerebral palsy. We look beyond limitations to foster a world of accessibility, comprehensive support, and empowerment for families navigating the unique journey of CP.
Every March, during national Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, Freda’s Light takes to the forefront of community advocacy. We dedicated this time to shattering misconceptions, sharing vital resources, and painting our community green to ensure that the voices, talents, and needs of individuals with CP are celebrated, respected, and heard.
The cornerstone of our community engagement and fundraising efforts is our annual memorial walk, Steps for Freda. This vibrant, family-friendly event brings together advocates, loved ones, and neighbors to walk in honor of Freda’s triumphant stride and outlived expectations. It is a celebration of movement, community unity, and collective purpose.
The funds raised through Steps for Freda are poured directly into creating a brighter tomorrow. We are proud to host a dedicated graduate scholarship fund designed to support exceptional students pursuing degrees in aligning fields—such as rehabilitation sciences, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology.
By investing in the education of future specialists, we ensure that the next generation of therapists possesses the skill, heart, and dedication required to enhance the mobility, communication, and quality of life for individuals with cerebral palsy. Through these scholarships, Freda’s profound impact comes full circle, enabling dedicated professionals to help others rewrite their own expectations.
