At Freda’s Light, we believe everyone with cerebral palsy deserves to be recognized, championed, and given every chance to excel. We exist to ensure these individuals have the essential support and resources needed to reach their full potential.
Inspired by the enduring legacy of Freda Veronica Riley, our foundation is building a brighter future across the Florida Panhandle—fostering a region where families connect to reliable networks, communities actively embrace inclusion, and the next generation of healthcare professionals receives compassionate, specialized training.
Freda's Light was established in 2026 by six siblings inspired by the enduring spirit of their sister, who passed away in 2017.
From an early age, their parents, Gladys and Frank Riley, instilled in the family the core values of compassion, civic responsibility, and service to others. Growing up alongside Freda deepened these principles. Loving her gave the siblings firsthand insight into the unique challenges families face, as well as the profound resilience, joy, and dignity within the neurodiverse community.
In the years following her passing, the family sought a way to honor her life that extended far beyond remembrance. This sparked the creation of our organization, designed to build lasting opportunities for future generations. We work to ensure that individuals living with cerebral palsy have access to knowledgeable healthcare providers, supportive networks, and pathways to independence.
Today, we channel Freda's memory into tangible impact through vital education, community support, and academic scholarships. By empowering families, building public awareness, and funding future professionals, we remain fiercely committed to uplifting everyone we serve.
Freda's Light is more than our name. It reflects the lasting impact one person's life can have on countless others.
A light offers guidance, hope, and reassurance. It helps people navigate difficult moments and reminds them they are never alone. That is the legacy Freda left behind, and the future we strive to build every day.
Every family who finds support, every conversation that increases understanding, every student who commits to serving the cerebral palsy community, and every person who joins our mission helps carry that light forward. Together, those individual acts of compassion become something much greater: a brighter future for generations to come.
Although our journey begins in Fort Walton Beach, our vision reaches across the Florida Panhandle and beyond.
We are building more than programs or events. We are building a lasting legacy of opportunity, education, and inclusion that will continue serving families for years to come.
We envision communities where individuals living with cerebral palsy have access to knowledgeable professionals, meaningful opportunities, and strong support systems that empower them to thrive throughout every stage of life.
As Freda's Light grows, so does our commitment to ensuring that Freda's legacy continues to inspire compassion, strengthen communities, and create brighter futures for all.
